Speech 2016

Have you ever wanted to make good tech? I bet you’ve thought you could not do it. But, in fact, you could learn it at your own school. Im Nate, and i'm here to tell you why you should learn coding at school! Reason 1. It’s a basic literacy in the modern age. You have probably seen heaps of phones, computers and electronics in your life. These are very common things that gladly make people happy. You should know how they work, or have a basic idea instead of thinking there oblivion magic.

Reason 2. It can change the world, by making technological improvements in the tech that adults make! It’s simple. Kids can check for problems with the things they make and improve quality and quantity, and it’s not like slavery! They can have fun doing it and they don't have to alone. Since there are roughly 1.9 BILLION kids, they won't be doing much work. They can do it with friends, parents, caregivers, and last but not least, teachers.

Reason 3. You can bring your ideas to life! You can think of many ideas, but only make some of them actually happen. Technology, not surprisingly, help with that. Kids can use all their ideas that they have in their not so small brains.

Reason 4. It can be really easy to learn if you think of it in the right way, have the right tools and working with the right people. Coding had to be learnable for people to make all of the tech that exists. So, i personally think we could all learn coding at our own school.

Reason 5. It makes kids brains work better! You would want yourself to be smart, right? Just like being bilingual, your brain works better the more you know. What i mean is the more you learn, the better your brain works.

Also the 6th BIGGEST reason why you should learn coding is… it’s very fun! And just something you might wanna do

So coding,  it’s fun, important, a literacy, and it can change the world! These are the reasons why coding should be taught at school. Thank you.

Olympic story (made up)

I could see the finish line, and I thought I was going to succeed.
But of course my pedal HAD to break down at this exact moment. I was going to win anyway but some jerk was making a noise like thunder viciously striking down! AND he threw food at me. So rude. All I could think of was when it started. I was getting my bike ready and someone bumped into it. That was a bad thing, because the olympic bikes were super, crazy light. That's why my bike broke down! And the person who did it was ahead!
So, I had a plan to win. I threw the food at him just used my right leg to pedal. It was so hard and I had to pedal carefully. My the end my leg was burning but you guessed it, I won gold.  Yahoo!

Mcdonalds whistle

At work, lunchtime of course, lots of people wanted to go to Mcdonalds and they had a sale on quarter pounder combos that day,  they were $4! Someone (with a degree in science) invented a whistle that teleported (it involves cells and atoms, too complicated to explain here) you and people around you to Mcdonalds (by the way he is a very rich man now). When the boss blew the whistle everyone disappeared and went to Mcdonalds. The problem was that there was no sale and it was a hoax. “Oh no!” said one man, “We don't have no money to pay full price!” They needed a plan. “We could tell them about the hoax?” said someone.”That's a great idea!” said someone else. They told them about the hoax ( Mcdonalds were kind  and honored it) and they got $4 combos. They went back to work happily (using the whistle again of course). They decided never to listen to deals on Google again.

writing

I was at SMILE.DOG.FOREST (crazy name right?) and it was really loud. If you bring any food there the air will make it bitter.I found A LION ON STICKS and a giraffe! I went closer and saw the LION DO A BACKFLIP to the giraffe. He growled and HUGGED THE GIRAFFE . Then the giraffe kicked him as hard as a rhino. I heard growls and saw a fight. I was scared so I ran and they chased me. I smelt roast meat so I turned around to see the giraffe cooking the lion ON A BBQ soooo… I ATE THE LION. WHAT IN THE WORLD was going on?

colors

this is a sheet of colours and what they are like. White is like the sun being blocked by clouds. Blue is like shiny blueberries in sea water. Brown is like melted chocolate on a tree trunk. Red is like shiny blood on strawberries. Black is like crumbly coal dipped in ink.
